Overview
The Board of Investment (BOI) announced the updated criteria for position application, placement application and the renewal application with the effective date on 1 October 2025 for BOI licenses that are approved from the date the announcement was announced and on 1 January 2026 for BOI licenses that were approved before the announcement was announced.

Background
The Board of Investment (BOI) announced the updated criteria for position application, placement application and the renewal application. The major updates are the Thai employees’ ratio for manufacturing businesses and minimum salary requirements for all position level. Below are some of the important updates.
- Thai employees’ ratio of 70% for manufacturing businesses that hire more than 100 employees
- Minimum salary of THB 150,000 per month for executive level position
- Minimum salary of THB 75,000 per month or THB 50,000 per month if graduated with bachelor’s degree or above for management level position
- Minimum salary of THB 50,000 per month for operation level position
Impact
The BOI companies and BOI visa and work permit applicants/holders must meet the new requirements in order to apply or renew BOI visa and work permit.
Date of implementation
- 1 October 2025 for BOI licenses that are approved from the date the announcement was announced
- 1 January 2026 for BOI licenses that were approved before the announcement was announced
