Immigration update: Indonesia | Updated health protocols for travellers and list of exempted travellers
Indonesian COVID-19 Task Force has released circular letter No.8 of 2021 on regulating health protocols for travellers entering Indonesia. This is valid from 9 February 2021 until further notice.
Who will be affected?
– International travellers entering Indonesia.
– Companies who wish to employ foreign workers in Indonesia.
Description
Travellers who can enter Indonesia:
– Holders of valid Indonesian residence permit (ITAS & ITAP).
– Valid e-Visa holders.
– Medical, Food & Humanitarian Aid support personnel.
– Conveyance crew.
– Foreigners working on Strategic Vitality projects, National Vital Objects and National Strategic Projects, with pre-approval from the related Ministry/Institution in Indonesia and present the letter to the immigration officer upon arrival.
Visa Extension for Foreigners in Indonesia
– Foreigners in Indonesia holding Visit Visa that has been extended for up to 4 times and do not exceed 180 days of stay will be required to apply for a new onshore visa before expiry date.
– ITAS holders that have maximized allowable extension in Indonesia will be required to re-apply for a new onshore visa before expiry date.
Administrative requirements for submitting onshore visa:
1. Does not require RT-PCR results
2. Foreigners are required to attach a statement letter that they are willing to pay for medical treatment independently if exposed to COVID-19 while in Indonesia.
Work Permit Applications:
– New Work Permit applications for foreigners who are still abroad are currently being put on hold until further notice.
– Exemptions for Strategic Vitality projects, National Vital Objects and National Strategic Projects, with pre-approval from the related Ministry.
– Indonesian entities may submit a new work permit application for foreigners who are currently in Indonesia.
Health protocol for exempted travellers:
– Negative PCR test issued at a maximum of 72 hours prior to departure time.
– Re-take of PCR test upon entry to Indonesia.
– 5-day quarantine at a government appointed quarantine facility, costs are borne by travellers.
– Additional PCR test upon 5-day quarantine prior the release from the government facility.
– For any positive PCR test results, the travellers will be brought to the government appointed hospital for further treatment.
Santa Fe Recommendation:
Due to the rapid changes in border closures and health requirements, Santa Fe recommends travellers to keep travel dates flexible.
