New immigration updates by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Who will be affected?
All foreign nationality traveling to Japan and those holding a valid Japanese Residence Card
Impact
The Japanese government has added the below countries into the Denial of Landing Countries List from July 24:
Uzbekistan, Kenya, Comoros, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Suriname, Somalia, Namibia, Nepal, Paraguay, Palestine, Venezuela, Botswana, Madagascar, Libya, Liberia
Immigration Restrictions implemented previously have been extended until the end of August 2020.
Foreign Nationals who are holding a valid Japanese Residence Card and have departed from Japan before their destination country was listed in the Denial of Landing Country List will be allowed to re-enter Japan starting from 5 August, 2020:
+ Entry will be approved based on the PCR Test result conducted at the airport upon landing.
+ PCR Test result must also be obtained at the origin country before flight embarkation.
+ You must consult with your local Japanese Embassy first prior to departure. The Embassy will issue a [Permission for Re-entry Letter] for each person respectively.
