Immigration update: Longer processing times required during holiday season ’22 in Netherlands
The immigration authorities of the Netherlands, IND, have announced that there will be longer processing times during the holiday season this year.
The IND has also announced that they continue to face long processing times for family reunifications.
Who will be affected?
- All inbound immigration procedures to the Netherlands, submitted before or during the holiday season of 2022.
- The applications for family reunification which are currently in process and those that apply until further notice.
Background
Every year around the holiday season, the IND is short-staffed and faces longer processing times. The family reunification applications have been delayed for some time already, but the IND still cannot speed up the process.
Impact
The processing time of applications made for recognised sponsor entities around the holiday season is likely to face a delay of one or two weeks to grant a decision.
The processing times of family reunification applications currently take at least nine weeks, which can go up to twelve in some cases. The processing time will also be affected during this holiday season.
