Submission of Foreign Knowledge Worker (FKW) Projection for 2019
The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)’s eXpats portal will start to accept submissions for 2019 FKW Projection from 3 December 2018 onwards.
Who will be affected?
All Malaysian companies with MSC Status and those in the ICT Sector that submit applications through MDEC eXpats portal are impacted by this.
Background:
MDEC requires companies with the Malaysia MSC Status and those which are in the ICT Sector to submit their FKW Projection for 2019. The FKW Projection request can be submitted through the MDEC eXpats Portal starting from 3 December 2018. MDEC also suggested for companies to prioritise the application of the FKW Projection for the 1st Quarter of 2019 to ensure smooth approval process. Should companies require additional FKW Projection in 2019, they may make additional requests to MDEC throughout the year.
Impact:
Companies must take note that no visa applications (either new or renewal) can be submitted to MDEC in 2019 unless and until the FKW Projection request has been submitted and approved by MDEC.
If companies have any balance of their 2018 FKW Projection, the same will be forfeited by 31 December 2018.
Companies without any upcoming visa expiries and no immediate immigration needs for Malaysia do not need to take any action at this time but should factor the 2-3 weeks for FKW Projection into their planning for new visa applications or renewals.
