MDEC New Requirement – Validity of Non MSC Approval Letter
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced that the validity of approval letter for application submitted by Non MSC company has been revised from 3 months to 6 months effective from 1 November 2019.
Who will be affected?
All Malaysian companies that are categorised under Non MSC status that submit applications through MDEC Portal.
Background
MDEC has previously set up a ruling that the approval letter for Non MSC companies will only be valid for 3 months compared to MSC status companies, whereby the approval letter is valid for 6 months.
However, starting from 1 November 2019, all approval letters issued for application submitted by Non MSC companies will also be valid for 6 months from date of the approval being issued.
Impact
All expatriates under non MSC company will have longer time (6 months duration) to make arrangement to enter Malaysia to complete the endorsement stage, from the date the approval letter is issued.

Companies should take note that the validity of approval letter for Non MSC company has been revised to 6 months. As such, the expatriates will have longer time to make preparation to enter Malaysia and their official start date can be within this 6 month period.
