Agreements reached between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the European Union
On 24 December 2020 the United Kingdom and the European Union agreed to a Trade and Cooperation deal, an Agreement on Nuclear Cooperation and an Agreement on Security Procedures for Exchanging and Protecting Classified Information. These Agreements are designed to honour the instruction of the British people – expressed in the referendum of 2016 and the general election last year – to take back control of UK laws, borders, money, trade and fisheries. It changes the basis of the UK relationship its European neighbours from EU law to free trade and friendly cooperation.
