Turning old tech into new opportunities for education and the planet
Sustainability — Giving technology a second life for education and the environment, when our Brussels team moved into a new office we saw an opportunity to make a positive impact. Instead of sending our old IT equipment for disposal, we partnered with Digital for Youth to donate laptops, monitors, and PCs for refurbishment and reuse. These devices are now helping young people who don’t have the means to buy a computer for school, bridging the digital divide and supporting their education.
The environmental benefits are equally important. By extending the life of 20 laptops, we avoided approximately three tonnes of CO2 emissions, saved 208 m2 of land use, and reduced the demand for conflict minerals and toxic materials*. All non-functional equipment was responsibly recycled, with data securely erased to the highest standards**.
This initiative is a strong example of how we can combine sustainability with social responsibility. We’re proud of our Brussels team for leading the way and look forward to exploring similar projects across our global network.
