Immigration update: Japan | Suspension of all new entries
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan released an announcement to suspend all new entries into Japan from all countries around the world in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Who will be affected?
All new entries into Japan for long-term status, foreign students, and entry for business purposes.
Impact
From 0:00am, Tuesday, 30 November 2021, the Japanese immigration authorities have suspended new entries into Japan from all around the world until 31 December 2021.

During this period, the previous approved programs have been suspended:
- New entries into Japan for long-term status, foreign students, and entry for business purposes
- New applicants who have received a 2x COVID vaccination and holding a valid certificate
