Extension of the Decree-Law on Expired Documents in Portugal

Overview
The term of Decree-Law 41-A/2024 of 28 June has been extended, which (i) maintains the validity of visas and documents relating to residence in national territory that have expired until 30 June 2025.
Who will be affected?
This extension of the Decree-Law applies specifically to immigrants who are currently in the process of regularisation within national territory and who have expired documents.
Background
The extension of the term of Decree-Law Decree-Law 41-A/2024, of 28 June, maintains the validity of expired visas and documents relating to residence in national territory until 30 June 2025.
Impact
With this derogation, holders of expired visas and residence permits can continue to live and work in Portugal in a regularised manner until the government manages to normalise the processing and analysis of document renewals.
