Pink Beach, Komodo-Lombok
When Indonesia springs to mind, many think of remote islands, tropical rainforests and of course golden beaches. Pink Beach is exactly the sort of island that makes Indonesia so popular as a holiday destination. This beach can be found in Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara, and it is one of the seven beaches in the world which has pink sand, leading it to be dubbed as one of the seven natural wonders in the world. As well as stunning landscape, Pink Beach is also home to many various species of fish and corals, making it the perfect place to take up a new hobby like snorkelling and scuba diving.
Perasi Beach, Karangasem-Bali
For the best white sand in Bali, Perasi Beach, Virgin Beach or more commonly known on the island as Pantai Pasir Putih is worth the 20 minute drive to the north of Candidasa in East Bali. If you are looking to get away from the crowded beaches then this one is for you. Not only can visitors enjoy the beautiful clear sea set out in front of them, but can enjoy a forest that features directly behind them. If you are feeling adventurous you can also have a trek up the hill on the right of the coast to enjoy more stunning views. Visitors, after climbing the hill, will be treated to a beach with black sand, Nusa Penida Island and several small islands around the beach.
Plengkung Beach, Banyuwangi-East Java
Plengkung Beach is located in the southeast end of Java Island, and it features the best waves and scenery. If you are a keen surfer then this is the place to take your board, as the big waves on this beach make it a paradise for surfers. For those looking to relax, this beach offers the most colourful sunsets as well as the chance to spot turtles on the east side of the island. Getting to Plengkung beach can be rather difficult. If you’re coming from Bali or Banyuwangi you will need to use sea transport to get to the beach or if you are up for a road trip you will need to pass Alas Purwo National Park which can be steep, so make sure you are prepared. Either way, when you arrive the difficulties of getting to the beach will be long forgotten by the views that will greet you.
Tomini Bay, Sulawesi
This hidden gem is located in the north of Sulawesi, one of Indonesia’s main islands. Tomini Bay lies close to the equator making it the perfect place to soak up some sun. As this beach is so close to the equators line, it is a heaven for divers and is home to various kinds of sea creatures. It is also one of the largest seas in the world as it plunges over four kilometres in depth.
Parangtritis, Yogyakarta
Parangtritis is a really famous beach in Yogyakarta which is located 27 kilometres to the south of the city. The best time to enjoy the scenery this beach has to offer is in the evening where visitors can also enjoy watching the sunset. Yet before heading to the beach for the sunset, it is always worth climbing Gembirawati Cliff which is directly located behind the beach. On the cliff you can see a 360-degree view of the beach and on the east side you can see Gembirawati Temple, a tucked away hidden ancient temple.
