The CAAT (Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand) has mandated that all nationals (including Thais) flying to Thailand need to present a health certificate to their airline prior to boarding the plane, effective from 00:00 on Mar 22, 2020.
Who will be affected?
All nationals who are flying to Thailand from 22 March, 2020 onwards.
Background
As the COVID-19 situation continues to escalate in Thailand, the CAAT has mandated that all nationals (including Thais) flying to Thailand are required to present a health certificate to their airline prior to boarding the plane.
1. Thai nationals
- Present a health certificate confirming they are fit to fly (Fit to Fly Health Certificate);
- Obtain a letter issued by Royal Thai Embassy, Thai Consular Office or Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand certifying that the passenger is a Thai national returning to Thailand.
2. Foreign nationals
- Present a health certificate certifying that the passenger “poses no risk of being infected by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)”, issued no more than 72 hours prior to the departure date;
- Present a health insurance that shows a minimal medical coverage of 100,000 USD in Thailand and covers COVID-19.
Passengers who fail to produce the above certificates will be denied issuing a boarding pass.
Upon arrival in Thailand, all nationals are advised to follow the below policies:
1. Thai nationals
- Present an updated T.8 form to the communicable disease control officers. Alternatively, they could update their T.8 form in the AOT (Airports of Thailand) APP;
- Thai nationals will be subject to isolation, quarantine, observation or other measures for the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
2. Foreign nationals
- Present an updated T.8 form to the communicable disease control officers. Alternatively, they could update their T.8 form in the AOT (Airports of Thailand) APP;
- Show the health certificate and health insurance policy to the communicable disease control officers;
- Foreign nationals will be subject to isolation, quarantine, observation or other measures for the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
Impact
Health certificate requirement has now been extended from the original 4 Disease Infected Zones to all nationals now.
