Immigration update: Indonesia | Preventive measure of Coronavirus
Indonesia | Ministry of Foreign Affairs Impose Preventive Measure of Coronavirus Outbreak
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented a temporary ban on Chinese citizens to enter Indonesia as a preventive measure of the Coronavirus outbreak starting Monday, 3 February 2020.
Who will be affected?
- Travellers to Indonesia who have been in China for at least 14 days
- Chinese citizens planning to travel to Indonesia on business / leisure
- Work & Stay permit applicants of Chinese Nationalities and/or applicants who have been in China for at least 14 days
Impact
The ban affects travellers who have been in China for at least 14 days. The immigration authorities have been advised by the Ministry of Foreign affairs not to issue free visa or visa on arrival and not allow transit into Indonesia to these travellers. Indonesia will also temporarily stop flights from and to China starting Wednesday, 5 February 2020.
Chinese citizens who are applying for a social visa or limited stay visa at the Indonesian Embassy in China will be required to provide an additional document, the International Certificate of Vaccination.
Santa Fe Recommendation
As there is no timeline set by the authorities on the entry ban, Chinese citizens and travellers who have been in China for at least 14 days may need to reschedule planned travel to Indonesia.
For work & stay permit applicants, employers are advised to keep assignment start dates flexible for the affected travellers. Santa Fe will issue an update once the temporary ban has been lifted.
