Announcement of Movement Control Order and travel restrictions update
The Government of Malaysia has announced a strict Movement Control Order (MCO) to commence on the 12th May 2021. This will also include another 4 countries added to the list of travel ban to Malaysia.
Who are affected
Expatriates on EP (All categories), their dependents and maids.
Individuals travelling to/from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Background
The Government of Malaysia will impose a strict Movement Control Order effective from 12th May 2021 until the 7th June 2021 in order to curb the spread of the COVID 19 virus.
Impact
+ Delays in processing applications to be anticipated as Immigration authorities are operating on limited resources.
+ For those who are travelling to / from any of the countries listed above, please expect travel delays and flight cancellations.
